What will happen at the treatment session?

The 1^st appointment will take around 1½ hrs to allow me to perform a full diagnosis (including questioning you about your complaint, as well as your general health and wellbeing) before carrying out a treatment.

Subsequent treatments will take about 45 mins in total.  Needles are usually left in for up to 20 mins at a time.

What will it feel like and will it hurt?

The needles used in acupuncture are very thin and usually will not cause any pain.  You are most likely to feel a dull ache, or a pulling sensation, and this is part of treatment – the needle connecting with Qi.

How many treatments will I need?

This will vary depending on your complaint – generally longer term problems take longer to treat than acute.  However, I will be able to give you a good idea of how many treatments I would expect you to need before you start to feel a difference – and bear in mind that a great many people feel a difference from the 1^st treatment!
